A Birthday Boat Trip in Ibiza: Your 30th, 40th or 50th on the Water

For a 30th, 40th or 50th with 8–10 friends, a private day on our NAVAN S30 works out at roughly €100–175 per person, skipper included. The real timeline, the two routes and the honest numbers.

Turning 30, 40 or 50 in Ibiza with eight to ten friends? A private birthday boat trip in Ibiza is the realistic middle ground between “let’s book a long dinner” and a villa production with a five-figure budget. Split across a full group of ten, our NAVAN S30 works out at roughly €100–175 per person for a full eight-hour day, professional skipper always included — and the route, the playlist and the pace get decided by exactly one person: the one blowing out the candles.

We run birthday charters all season from Marina Santa Eulalia on Ibiza’s east coast, and they are some of our favourite days: one boat, one group, no strangers, no queue at the bar. Here is how to build the day, with a real timeline and the honest per-person maths.

Why a birthday boat trip in Ibiza beats the long dinner

A dinner reservation is over in three hours and half the table never talks to the other half. A hundred-person party boat means someone else’s music, someone else’s schedule and a queue for every drink. A villa takeover is glorious — if someone volunteers to project-manage staff, catering and a sound system for weeks.

A private charter sits precisely between those options. The NAVAN S30 takes up to 10 guests, which happens to be the size of most real friend groups. Everything a birthday needs is already on board: quilted sunpads on the bow, a folding teak table at the stern, a Bluetooth sound system playing the birthday playlist and nobody else’s, shade sails fore and aft for the hottest hours, and a private toilet below deck — the detail nobody thinks about until hour five. Our skipper handles everything nautical, so whoever organised the day gets to be a guest at it too.

A real birthday timeline: 10:00–18:00 out of Santa Eulalia

A full day is eight hours, typically 10:00 to 18:00 and flexible in both directions. This is how most birthday groups actually spend it:

  • 09:45 — Meet at Berth H17, Marina Santa Eulalia. There is parking at the marina, and it is a short stroll from town.
  • 10:00 — Lines off. A quick briefing from the skipper, drinks into the cooler, playlist on.
  • Late morning — First swim stop. On the Formentera route that is S’Espalmador: the anchor chain rattles out and suddenly ten people are standing in shallow, Caribbean-clear water off an uninhabited islet.
  • Lunch — At anchor off Ses Illetes: either the Mediterranean lunch board from our €45 per person food package, laid out on the teak table, or a beach-restaurant table our team reserved for you in advance.
  • Afternoon — Seabob runs, paddleboard laps, or absolutely nothing on the bow sunpads.
  • Towards 17:00 — The cruise home, quietly the best hour of the day: warm light, salt-dried shoulders, one last glass.
  • 18:00 — Lines back on in Santa Eulalia.

Two routes — the birthday person picks

The classic birthday choice is the Formentera day: south past the Dalt Vila silhouette, the S’Espalmador swim, lunch off Ses Illetes and a lazy afternoon in the lagoon or at the quieter Cala Saona on the west side.

The alternative is the Es Vedrà and west coast route: around the island’s southern tip past Cala Jondal, the first sight of Es Vedrà growing off the bow — a moment that goes quiet on every charter — then the anchor down at Cala d’Hort and the clearest turquoise water of the day at Cala Comte and Cala Bassa. Timing is flexible, so in summer we can shift the day later and let the west-coast leg land in the golden hour. Worth asking about if the birthday person is a sunset person.

What it costs, honestly, per person

The boat is priced per charter, not per person, so a full group is where the maths turns friendly:

SeasonNAVAN S30, full dayPer person with 10 aboard
October–Aprilfrom €999from about €100
May & September€1,250–€1,450€125–€145
July & August€1,600–€1,750€160–€175

Fuel is charged separately by actual usage, which depends on the route and on how many full-throttle moments the group orders. The skipper is always included, never an upsell, and booking works with a 30% deposit online and the rest on the day. For the line-by-line version, read our honest cost breakdown or check the current prices.

The details that make it feel like a birthday

This is where a private boat quietly beats every restaurant: the extras are yours to pick, per person rather than per table.

  • Drinks package, €35 pp — cava, beer, soft drinks and ice. The toast, sorted.
  • Cocktail package, €65 pp — premium cocktails mixed on board, which land very differently at anchor than at a bar.
  • Food package, €45 pp — Mediterranean lunch board, fresh fruit and water.
  • Seabob, €250 — the underwater scooter, briefing included. Guaranteed source of the birthday hero shot.
  • Inflatable SUP, €50 — for the quiet ones.

Bringing a cake? Do it — there is room in the cooler, and the cava for the toast is already covered by the drinks package. Just tell us it is a birthday when you book: we plan the day around the guest of honour, from the first playlist to where the bow is pointing at cake o’clock. One practical tip from experience: if the date falls in July or August, book well ahead — there is only one boat, and summer weekends go first. If you can choose, May, June or September give you the same day with softer prices and emptier anchorages.
